Using Published Fares

With the Published Fare applications you can quickly find the latest published air fares from the airlines. These applications are provided to you as a research tool to see what the current fares are, and, in the case of routes, what the trend is.

We get our fare data from our data partner FareCompare. FareCompare accesses fare information directly from the airlines and updates new fare information hours before they are posted elsewhere. Domestic airfare updates are published three times per day Monday through Friday and once per day on Saturday and Sunday. FareCompare processes these fares in under 5 minutes whereas fare updates are released 2-4 hours later at travel agencies and airlines. (Mon-Fri 10:00 a.m / noon / 8:00 p.m., Saturday 8:00 p.m, and Sunday 6:00 p.m. EST). International fares to/from North America are updated 5 times a day.

You can search for published fares by:

	Route		Search for the most recent published fares for a given city pair, and see a trend of the minimum, maximum and average lowest airfares for the month

	Airport		Search for the most recent published fares for flights departing a given airport. The fares shown are the fares for the 50 most popular destinations for that airport. You can also limit it to a particular airline

Somethings to be aware of with Published Fares:

The published fare is not necessarily the lowest fare. Airlines have special fares. These fares are typically only sold on the airline's websites. Examples include "web fares", "last minute deals", etc... These fares will not appear in these applications. FareCompare is working with many airlines to include these fares but for now they do not appear here.
Sometimes travel agencies and other companies will buy a select number of seats on an airline and then sell these seats later. The fare they charge may be discounted. Regardless, these fares do not show up in the results.
Some airlines like SouthWest do not publicly publish fares and others like JetBlue publish only a portion of its fares. As a result, these airlines are not included.
Fares are filed based on city codes instead of airport codes. FlightStats is based completely off of airport codes for now. We've tried to map airport codes to city codes for these applications, so that the applications will work correctly. You will notice a little blurb in the results that say the results apply to other airports in the city as a result.
The published fare may not be available any more. For example, an airline might have sold all its seats.
